xi About this manual This manual describes how to install user software for the Fiery S300 31C-M Introduction Color Server, and how to set up printing from Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS computers. For information about setting up network servers and clients to use the Fiery S300 31C-M Color Server, see the Configuration Guide.

When you print, your PostScript files are spooled to that connection and transmitted over the queue “port” to the Fiery S300. If you are installing from the files you downloaded using the Installer, browse to prntdrvr\Prntdrvr\Ps_drvr\Win_2000 or prntdrvr\Prntdrvr\Ps_drvr\Win_XP and click Open.

If a job exceeds this size, it is split into multiple messages, each not exceeding this size, and is sent to the Fiery S300. The Fiery S300 then automatically combines all split messages into the original single print job for printing.

1-52 Installing User Software on a Windows Computer Before installing the TWAIN Fiery Scan or Fiery Remote Scan module, make sure the TWAIN plug-ins (installed with TWAIN-compliant application software) are located in the correct Plugins subfolder. If the TWAIN plug-ins have been deleted, you must reinstall the TWAIN-compliant application software in order to use Fiery Scan or Fiery Remote Scan.

Configuration of the Fiery utilities is similar. Configuring the connection for Fiery utilities The first time you start one of the Fiery utilities, you must configure the connection to the Fiery S300.

1-66 Installing User Software on a Windows Computer Installing the printer description files for Windows The User Software CD contains printer description files for popular Windows applications. Adobe Pagemaker 5.0, 6.x, and 7.0 do not support automatic installation of printer description files from the Printers or Printers and Faxes Control Panel. To make the Fiery S300 available in the Print and Page Setup dialog boxes of this application, copy printer description files to the appropriate location.

When selected as the ColorSync system profile, EFIRGB ICC v1f sets the optimal source color space for printing to the Fiery S300.
