    Completing the Windows 98/Me parallel port connection Preparing a parallel port connection for Windows 98/Me requires specific BIOS settings on your computer, and specific port and printer settings for Windows 9x/Me. In addition, the administrator may need to change the parallel port timeout in Fiery Setup if you choose to spool files to the Fiery X3e, rather than print directly.

If this box does not read LPT 1: (ECP Printer Port), change the port setting now, as described in “To prepare the port for parallel port printing” on return to this procedure.

If you log on as a User, you can install the printer driver through Point and Print, but you cannot modify printer defaults and configure installable options.

You must also configure the print connection between the computer and the Fiery X3e.

    1-65 Installing Fiery utilities Adobe Acrobat In Command WorkStation, the DocBuilder Pro feature and PitStop software plug-in work with Adobe Acrobat v5.0.5. To use DocBuilder Pro, you must install Adobe Acrobat v5.0.5, the PitStop plug-in, and Command WorkStation. Adobe Acrobat and PitStop are included on the Fiery DocBuilder Pro CD.

    Before you can use the newly installed software, you must configure the connection to the Fiery X3e. Configuration of the Fiery utilities is similar. Fiery Printer Delete Utility is installed and used locally, so connection to the Fiery X3e is not required before using the software.

    A dialog box recommending that you restart your system appears after the printer driver is deleted. 5. Click OK to restart, or, to delete another printer driver, click Cancel to return to the Fiery Driver Uninstall Tool dialog box. Restart when you finish deleting printer drivers.

    1-71 Using Fiery utilities for the first time Configuring the connection for Command WorkStation The first time you start Command WorkStation, you are prompted to configure the connection to the Fiery X3e. O CONFIGURE THE CONNECTION FOR 1. Print a Configuration page. The information on this page helps you locate the Fiery X3e, if it is not on the same local subnet as your computer.
