3-1. Updating of Software

There are two ways to update software. One is Web version-upgrade, the other is updating by using
Memory Stick. On this model, FTP way is not supported.

3-1-1. Web Version-upgrade

First of all, store the update fi le to your PC. Then transfer this fi le to XG80 via WEB.
Confi rming the software version from Machine Information
Refer to Section 3-4-4.
Opening the Web Page
Enter the IP address assigned to the PCS-XG80/XG80S in the address line of your browser such as Inter-
net Explorer.
The format of an address is:
http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/
For instance, if the IP address is "192.47.100.117", enter "http://192.47.100.117/" in the address line.
When a proxy server in an external network segment has been set, the Gateway address in the PCS-XG80/
XG80S LAN setup must also be set. Or set your Web browser proxy setting to "No Proxy" for the PCS-
XG80/XG80S.

Internet Explorer is a product of the Microsoft Corporation. Please use Version 5.0, or above (Version 6.0
recommended).
When the window with the user and password fi elds appears after connection, enter "sonypcs" for
the user fi eld and the administrator password in the password fi eld.
