3-7-2. Description of Each Test

Step 1: Checking for lost packets
Check whether packet loss has occurred by referring to the PCS-XG80 log.
The procedure and an explanation of how to read the log are given below.
If lost packets are noted in the "OPLOG" lines of the log, go to Step 2.
When no packets have been lost, this indicates that there is no problem in the network or PCS-XG80.
Procedures:
1. PCS-XG80 LAN Setup menu setting
Make the "QoS1" and "QoS2" setting in the Setup Menu, as shown below.
Detailed Setup:
Forward Error Correction (FEC): Off
Packet Resend Request (ARQ):
Adaptive Rate Control (ARC):
Auto Bandwidth Detection:
2. Obtain a system log. (Refer to 3-4-1.)
3. Save the log for at least one minute, using the recording function provided by Hyper Terminal or other
terminal software.

"OPLOG" appears once every minute.
4. Using a text editor, search for "OPLOG" in the log fi le.
How to read the log:
Focus on the "OPLOG" lines:
"IPloss" indicates the packet loss ratio before QoS recovery
"decloss" shows the packet loss ratio after QoS recovery.
An example log is shown in Fig. 1.
This log indicates that the PCS-XG80 detected around 6.7% packet loss in a 4-Mbps stream and that the
packet losses were recovered by ARQ retransmission.
