Obtaining and decompressing firmware

NOTE: The following steps describe how to download firmware. Web retrieval procedures may be
subject to change.
To access the latest Fabric OS 5.2.x firmware, configuration files and MIB files go to the following HP web
site:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/saninfrastructure/index.html
You must decompress the firmware (using the UNIX tar command for .tar files, the gunzip command
for all .gz files, or a Windows unzip program for all .zip files) before you can use the
firmwareDownload command to update the firmware on your equipment.
When you unpack the downloaded firmware it expands into a directory that is named according to the
version of Fabric OS it contains. For example, if you download and unzip Fabric OS 5.3.x.zip, it expands
into a directory called 5.3.x. When you issue the firmwareDownload command, there is an automatic
search for the correct package file type associated with your switch. Specify only the path to the 5.3.x
directory.
