Removing the front control panel

To remove the control panel, complete the following steps.
10. If you are instructed to return the control panel, follow all packaging
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 59.
2. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect the power
cords and all external cables.
3. Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 61).
4. Remove the bezel (see "Removing the bezel" on page 63).
Note: It might be helpful to lay the server on its left side for the remainder of
this procedure.
5. Lift the microprocessor air baffle out of the server.
6. Remove the drive cage:
a. Remove the thumbscrew from the drive cage.
b. Rotate the drive cage upward until it is in the open position.
c. Lift the drive cage out of the server.
7. Note the routing of the control panel cables; then, disconnect them from the
control panel.
8. Remove the screw that attaches the control panel to the chassis.
9. Grasp the left side of the control panel and rotate the control panel to the right
until it slips out of the slot on the right side of the panel. Then, pull the control
panel away from the server.
