Installing Firmware Upgrades

The loader FW can be upgraded via the RS232 diagnostic port on the back of the
loader or via the SCSI interface. Before attempting this upgrade, make sure you
have access to a FW Upgrade Utility program for loading the new firmware into the
SLR Autoloader. Tandberg Data recommends an upgrade via SCSI.

Firmware upload via SCSI.

A suitable utility program, FlashIt, and the FW image file, can be downloaded from
the Tandberg Data webb site http://www.tandberg.com/. The program is available
for DOS, WIN95/98 and for Windows NT. The FW immage file shall be named
AS00xxxx.bin were xxxx is the FW revision number. (Example: AS000302.bin for
FW revision 03.02)
Note:
1. Install the FlashIt utility, suitable for your operating system, on your computer
or server were the loader is connected.
2. Make sure the computer has detected the loader.
3. Some operating systems, like Win NT, may require that all backup services
started by the Backup SW is stopped before the FlashIt utility is started.
4. The appropriate FW file must be located on the same directory as the FlashIt
utility.
5. Start the FlashIt utility and follow the instructions in the program.
6. As the Download Utility begins data transfer, the SLR Autoloader displays,
alternately, the following two messages:
