General Use

An example of the value of the Data Protector Express Virtual Library Recovery would be if a user looses
their configuration files located in the D2D subdirectory where Data Protector Express was installed. The
Virtual Library that was using these files is now either offline or has been removed from the database.
The user now has orphaned extent files located in different folders or UNC paths spread across their
network. In order for the user to use these backups, they have to create a new Virtual Library, and
complete the steps outlined below.
1. Use the D2D Device Wizard to create a new Virtual Library. This Virtual Library will default to a
storage folder located in the D2D subdirectory.
2. Open the property page of that new Virtual Library and select the Library Configuration pane. Under
Storage Folder Options, delete the default location
3. Click Add
4. Browse to the storage folder paths used previously by the now lost Virtual Library.
5. Repeat these steps, if multiple paths were used.
6. In the Virtual Media Status Pane, you will see the now Foreign, and hopefully Healthy VTCs appear.
