The Oracle Database Listener application stores logs on the database server. To
forward these logs from the Oracle server to STRM, you must configure a Perl
script on the Oracle server. The Perl script monitors the listener log file, combines
any multi-line log entries into a single log entry, and sends the logs, using syslog
(TCP), to STRM.
Note: Before being sent to STRM, the logs are processed and re-formatted to
ensure the logs are not forwarded line-by-line, as is found in the log file. All of the
relevant information is retained.
To install and configure the Perl script:
Access the Juniper Networks Support Web site:
http://www.juniper.net/support
Click the Management Software link and log in. Go to the Security Threat
Response Manager link.
Download the Perl script to your Oracle server:
oracle_dblistener_fwdr.pl.gz
Unzip the file:
gzip -d oracle_dblistener_fwdr.pl.gz
Copy the Perl script to the server that hosts the Oracle server.
Note: Perl 5.8 must be installed on the device that hosts the Oracle server.
Log in to the Oracle server using an account that has read/write permissions for
the
file and
listener.log
Enter the appropriate parameters:
