17.4.1 Updating Data in Advisor Tables

The Advisor data feed is updated on a regular basis as new vulnerabilities are reported. It contains
two types as Alert data and Attack data. For more information, see

To update Advisor, new data files need to be downloaded from the Novell Advisor server and loaded
into the Sentinel database on a regular basis.
Advisor Updates
NOTE: Novell recommends that you install the latest service pack for Sentinel.
To update the Advisor feed manually:
1 Go to the following URL and provide your Novell eLogin username and password.
Advisor V3 Feed Files (https://secure-www.novell.com/sentinel/advisor/advisordata)
The Novell eLogin username and password must be associated with the optional Advisor
license.
2 Download the

NOTE: Do not place the zip file in the
directories.
4 Run the following command:
./advisor.sh
advisor.sh

17.4.2 Changing the Advisor E-Mail Configuration

To mail Advisor notifications, you must have an SMTP Integrator configured with valid connection
information and with the property SentinelDefaultEMailServer set to "true". For more information,
see the SMTP Integrator documentation available on the
documentation/sentinel61).
After the SMTP Integrator is configured, Advisor uses other settings configured during installation
to send a notification if there is an error in the data loading process. During installation, the
administrator can also determine whether Advisor sends notifications for successful Advisor
updates and what To and From addresses should be used for the messages.
These installation settings can be changed in the configuration files for Advisor.
To change your Advisor server e-mail configuration:
1 Log in as the Sentinel Administrator User.
