In Acrobat 8, the shared review process was simplified by allowing the
initiator to set up a folder on a network without needing IT input. With
Acrobat 9 and Acrobat.com, the process is even simpler.
Initiating a shared document review is similar to the process used for
distributing a form. However, while Adobe Reader 7 or 8 can be used for
a form, only Acrobat or Adobe Reader 9 users can participate in a shared
review using Acrobat.com.
Follow these steps to send the review:
1. Click the Comment task button and choose Send for Shared Review to
open the Send for Shared Review wizard.
2. Step through the wizard:
•
On the first screen, click Browse to open a dialog to locate and
select the file for sharing. Click Next.
•
On the next screen, click the "How do you want to collect comments
from your reviewers?" pop-up menu and choose whether to use
Acrobat.com or your own server. The default choice is "Automatically
download & track comments with Acrobat.com" (Figure 79a). Click
Next.

Checking for
Comments
If you are using one or more
shared reviews, specify some
preferences to keep track of
the process. Choose Edit >
Preferences (Acrobat >
Preferences), and choose
Tracker from the category list
at the left of the Preferences
dialog. Shared Review and
Form Data Collection share
settings:
•
Check for new comments
and form data at a
specified time frame,
ranging from every hour
to never.
•
Specify a time to suspend
the checks for comments
and form data, ranging
from 1 month to never.
•
Select the notifications
you want to see—in
the system tray, inside
Acrobat, or both. By the
way, the notification
options are shown on the
Tracker window as well.
Choose any of the time
intervals by dragging the
sliders. Click OK to close the
Preferences dialog.
