I forgot the administrative password

If you forget the password assigned to the Contribute website administrator, you can reset the
password by deleting the shared settings file from the website and creating a new shared
settings file.
Note: If you delete the shared settings file, all of the group permissions you have previously created are lost; you
must set up those permissions again.
To delete the shared settings file:
Connect to the web server, either by mounting it on your desktop or by logging into it (using
1
an FTP client, telnet, SSH, or similar software).
Note: You can't perform this procedure from within a web browser.
On the web server, open the root folder of your Contribute website, then the _mm folder
2
that's inside the root folder.
A typical Windows directory path for the _mm folder might be:
\\myServer\wwwroot\mySite\_mm
A typical UNIX directory path for the _mm folder might be:
/myServer/webServer/mySite/_mm
The shared settings file is an XML file (labeled contribute.xml) in the _mm folder.
Delete the shared settings file.
3
Using Contribute, select Edit > My Connection and select the website whose shared settings
4
file you deleted, and click Edit.
Verify the Connection Wizard settings. When you are prompted to become the administrator
for the website, select Yes, and enter a new admini password.
Enter and confirm the new password and click OK.
5
When you have redefined the website connection, you will be asked if you want to administer
6
the website. Click Done or proceed to administer the website.

Can't complete the Connection Wizard

If you can't complete the Connection Wizard, see "Problems creating a connection" on page 191
and "Creating a Contribute website connection" on page 143.

Contribute freezes when sending a connection key

If you use a web-based mail program (such as Hotmail or Yahoo!), or use an e-mail application
that Contribute is unable to recognize, the Export Connection Wizard freezes when you try to
automatically attach and send the connection key via e-mail.
To prevent this, save the connection key to your local computer, and manually attach it to an e-
mail message that you create using your e-mail application.

Clicking Done in the Administer Website dialog box results in errors

Ensure that the _mm folder is installed at the root of your Contribute website, and the
contribute.xml file it contains has proper read/write permissions.
