To set advanced connection settings, select either or both of the following options:
Use passive FTP to connect to the server enables Contribute to set up the FTP connection,
rather than relying on the remote server to set it up. To use passive FTP, the firewall must be
configured to allow the FTP client to set up the FTP connection.
Use firewall settings when connecting lets you specify a firewall host and the port number
through which FTP access is allowed. If you select this option, or if you click the Firewall
Settings button, the Firewall category of the Preferences dialog box appears; enter the name of
the firewall host, and the firewall port number through which FTP access is enabled.
Note: The Firewall category is part of the Contribute Preferences dialog box. The firewall host and port number
are global settings for the entire application, not just for the website connection you are creating. You cannot
create multiple Contribute website connections using different firewall settings.

Becoming a website administrator

Contribute lets you become the website administrator of any website that does not already have
an administrator assigned. You or another member of your organization can become the
Contribute website administrator at any time by selecting Edit > Administer Website. If you're
not sure whether you should be the administrator for the website, select the No option.
If you choose to become an administrator, the Connection Wizard asks you after creating the
website connection if you would like to configure the website.
If the website already has an administrator, the wizard asks you to select a permission group. For
more information, see "Selecting a permission group" on page 151.
To become a website administrator:
Select the Yes, I want to be the administrator option.
1
Enter an administrator password, then enter it again to confirm.
2
The password you enter is used to protect the Administer Websites dialog box, which lets you
configure the Contribute settings and user permissions for the website.
