HOW TO USE BUILT IN STITCHES
Blind hem stitch
1. Be sure that the declutch knob in the handwheel
is into the (
) direction.
2. Set your machine as... (fig A)
Stitch length dial to 2
3. Fold the material sd shown in (fig B). Place it
under the presser foot.
For neater finish, it is preferable to pin and press
the hem before sewing.
4. Sew on the fold, so that straight stitches are
made on the hem edge, and the zigzag just
catches only one or two threads of fold. (fig C)
(fig D) a a : Correct seam
b b : Needle catching edge of fold too
much.
c c : Needle is not catching edge of fold
at all.
❈ Use zigzag sewing foot or option foot (blind
stitch foot).
Overcasting
For light-weight material:
Overcasting prevents edge of fabric from fraying.
1. Be sure that the declutch knob in the handwheel
is into the (
) direction.
2. Set pattern selection dial and stitch length
dial as... (fig E)
3. Set the seam allowance under the presser foot
with the edge of fabric in the line with side of the
presser foot. (fig F)
NOTE
For thick fabric (particularly denim), use wide
zigzag stitch, for light fabric, use narrow zigzag
stitch.
❈ Use zigzag sewing foot or option foot
(overcasting foot).

Point de couture invisible
1. Vérifier que le bouton de débrayage sur le

sous le pied-de-biche.
Pour fignoler à la fin, il est conseillé de piquer et
presser l'ourlet avant de coudre.
4. Coudre sur la plissure, de manière à ce que les
points droits soient faits sur le bord de l'ourlet,
et si c'est un zigzag, le zigzag doit attraper un
ou deux fils de la plissure. (fig. C)

b b : l'aiguille attrapant trop le bord du pli.
c c : l'aiguille n'attrapant absolument pas
le bord du pli.
❈ Utiliser le pied zigzag ou le pied en option (pied-
de-biche pour couture invisible).
Surfilage
Pour des tissus légers:
Surfiler empêche les bords des tissus de
s'effilocher.
1. Vérifier que le bouton de débrayage sur le

Pour des tissus épais (comme le jean), utilisez des
zigzag larges, pour des tissus légers, utilisez des
zigzags étroits.
