Device Overview
The Brocade G710 Switch offers several features and capabilities.
NOTE
The Brocade G710 Switch is secure-booted.
•
Up to 24 autosensing ports supporting 64G and 32G small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+) transceiver port
technology in a single domain.
•
Supports 64G and 32G secure optics only.
•
Dynamic Ports on Demand (Dynamic-POD) scaling from a base configuration of 8 ports to 24 ports (three 8-port SFP+
PODs).
•
8, 16, 32, and 64G auto-sensing Fibre Channel (FC) switch ports.
–
A 64G optical transceiver can autonegotiate to 64G, 32G, or 16G.
–
A 32G optical transceiver can autonegotiate to 32G, 16G, or 8G.
NOTE
The port speed is determined by the maximum speed. The port speed is supported by the optical
transceivers at either end of the link.
•
Universal ports self-configure as an E_Port, F_Port, N_Port, or D_Port.

A Diagnostic Port (D_Port) provides diagnostics, troubleshooting, and verification services for the physical media.
•
Hardware-enabled input and output (I/O) latency statistics collection.
•
Hardware-enabled virtual machine (VM) support.
•
1U chassis that can be installed as a stand-alone unit or mounted in a standard Electronic Industries Association (EIA)
48.26-cm (19-in.) cabinet or rack.
•
Brocade small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+) optical transceivers that support any combination of 64G and 32G
short wavelength (SWL), 64G and 32G long wavelength (LWL), or 32G extended long wavelength (ELWL) optical
media among the switch ports.
•
One built-in fixed power supply unit with a port-side power inlet. This power supply is not a field-replaceable unit
(FRU).
•
Four integrated fans (no fan FRUs) for cooling the system. This functionality allows a single fan failure and permits the
switch to continue to function properly if a fan fails. Only nonport-side intake airflow for cooling is supported.

If one fan fails and the temperature is less than or equal to 54°C (129.2°F), the fans run at high speed. If the
temperatures increase by more than 54°C (129.2°F), a critical temperature warning is displayed and the device
shuts down in 2 minutes.

If two fans fail and the temperature is less than or equal to 41°C (105.8°F), the fans run at high speed. If the
temperature increases more than 41°C (105.8°F), a critical temperature warning is displayed and the device shuts
down in 2 minutes.
–
If more than two fans fail, all fans run at high speed, a critical temperature warning is displayed, and the device
shuts down in 2 minutes.
•
LEDs:
–
24 bicolor LEDs (green/amber) to indicate the status for each SFP+ port.
–
One green LED to indicate valid system power.
–
One bicolor (green/amber) LED to indicate the system status.
–
Two Ethernet LEDs: one green LED to indicate a link speed of 1000Mb/s and one green LED to indicate activity.
