7850 Extension Switch Hardware Installation Guide Device Overview The Brocade 7850 Extension Switch is intended as a platform for Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) and IP Extension. The Brocade 7850 Extension Switch supports high performance, secure, and highly reliable transport of replication traffic over distance, for replication traffic originating in either FC or IP.
40GbE is supported through 4x 10GbE breakout using the SFP Ethernet ports. We do not support 40GbE interfaces on the Brocade 7850 Extension Switch; however, we do support connecting to 40GbE ports on core routers or WAN routers. The 40GbE port is connected at the core router or WAN router end, with breakout to 4x 10GbE interfaces on the Brocade 7850 Extension Switch.
