PROBLEM
The system does not
power on.
LCD screen is dark
and blank.
Battery power does not
last long.
Information on the LCD
screen is difficult to see.
An optional component
does not work.

Troubleshooting
WHAT TO DO
If you are operating the system with battery power,
check that the battery pack is correctly inserted.
Attach the AC adapter to recharge the battery.
If you have the AC adapter attached, check that the
electrical outlet you are using works.
LCD power-saving mode, or Standby Mode has
shut off the backlight. Press any keyboard key.
The LCD may have been switched off. Press Fn-F3
to switch the LCD back on.
Screen brightness needs adjustment. Adjust the
control.
The system entered Suspend mode due to preset
timeout. Press the Power button and resume
operation.
The system entered Suspend mode due to low
battery power. Plug in the AC, press the Power
button, and resume operation.
Use power-saving modes.
Adjust the brightness using either Fn-F2 for a
DSTN LCD or the LCD brightness slide control for
TFT LCD.
Make sure the component is securely installed or
connected. Verify that the system parameter for the
I/O port configuration is set correctly in Setup for
Windows for Workgroups or Device Manger in
Windows 95.
