Carefully read p. 43 (MAINTENANCE).

Remove the footboard, see p. 60 (RE-
MOVING THE FOOTBOARD).

Remove the battery box, see p. 60 (RE-
MOVING THE BATTERY BOX).

Unscrew and remove the screws (1) and
(2), taking the relevant washers.
NOTE
Upon reassembly, position the
cable guide (3) correctly.

Loosen the screw (4) of the air manifold
clamp.
N
Grasp the air manifold in correspond-
ence with the clamp and pull it, thus re-
moving the whole air cleaner casing.

Carefully read p. 43 (MAINTENANCE).
The air cleaner should be inspected and
cleaned every 8000 km (5000 mi), depend-
ing on the conditions of use.
If the vehicle is used on dusty or wet roads,
the cleaning operations should be carried
out more frequently.
To clean the filtering element it is neces-
sary to remove it from the vehicle.
REMOVAL

Remove the footboard, see p. 60 (RE-
MOVING THE FOOTBOARD).

Remove the filtering element.
N
Check the filtering element (5) and
change it if necessary.
CLEANING
WARNING
Do not use petrol or inflammable sol-
vents to wash the filtering element, in
order to avoid fires or explosions.
Do not use any additive or liquid to
clean the filtering element, in order to
avoid the formation of moisture inside
the speed variator.
Use only compressed air.

Clean the filtering element (5) by means
of a pressurized air jet.
CAUTION
DO NOT OIL THE FILTERING ELEMENT,
since the oil may get into the belt case
and damage the belt or make it slip.
