Make sure the spoon assembly (Swivel (1) and
float chamber (3)) are screwed together hand-
tight (see figure 35 on page 6-7).

Fill the float chamber (3) with water.

Suck the excess water from the float chamber (3)
via the tube connection piece (6) using your
mouth or a syringe.
The spoon now contains water equivalent to 1
sample volume.
5.
Using a bottle or measuring flask, lift the float
chamber (4) valve straight upwards.
The float chamber should now fully drain out
without any help.
6.
The volume collected must now lie within the
requirements set by the milk inspection
authority.
7.
If the collected volume is too low, this can be modified by carefully shortening the tube
connection piece (6) from the bottom using a file.
Examine the volume again after making the modification.
8.
If the collected volume is too high, a new tube connection piece (6) must be installed. This may
need to be modified to deliver the correct volume.
Check the volume again after making the modification.
