    INTRODUCTION The Lely Splendimo 900 M is a double mower designed to be used with a Lely Splendimo 320 F front mower to cut fodder crops. The range of operation of the Lely Splendimo 900 M is between ± 20° from the horizontal (relative to the tractor), and can be driven at speeds up to 20 km/ h.

    When the hydraulic system is set to the floating position the cutter bars can closely follow ground contours. Optional Extras Lely Splendimo 900 M 1.3.1 Wear Plates Wear plates can be installed on the bottom of the skids to reduce wear of the skids.

    Figure 3. Agitator 1.3.4 Crop Divider A crop divider pushes the crop that has not been mown to the side of the mower and prevents an accumulation of grass on the mower. This is useful when the crop is extremely long or when the crop lies down. Figure 4.

    OPERATION Connect the Splendimo to the Tractor Adjust the 3-point hitch on the tractor until the arms are at the same height. Connect the two lower arms of the 3-point hitch to the linkage pins on the headstock. If necessary, install spacers on the linkage pins to make sure the lower arms are the correct distance apart.

Always position the tractor on solid and level ground before you WARNING disconnect the Splendimo from the tractor in transport position. Make sure there are no persons near the Splendimo when you disconnect WARNING it from the tractor.

    If an electrically controlled hydraulic system is installed: Disconnect the electrical power supply for the control box from the tractor. Remove the control box from the tractor cab. Disconnect the three hydraulic hoses from the tractor hydraulic system. Install the three dust caps on the three hydraulic hoses. Attach the three hydraulic hoses to the support on the headstock.
  • Page 18 Disengage the PTO. Wait for all moving parts of the Splendimo to stop. WARNING Pull the operating cord to release the locking hooks on the hydraulic rams. Operate the tractor hydraulic system to extend the hydraulic ram until the Splendimo is in the transport position. Make sure the locking hooks have engaged in the hydraulic rams.

    Move the Splendimo from the Transport Position to the Working Position Make sure there are no persons in the area when you move the Splendimo WARNING to the headland position. Make sure the PTO is disengaged before you move the Splendimo to the WARNING working position.

    Start Mowing Make sure no persons are near the Splendimo when you engage the PTO. WARNING Make sure no persons are within a 25 meter radius of the Splendimo WARNING during operation. Do not exceed the maximum PTO speed of 1000 rpm. WARNING Always switch off the tractor engine before you leave the tractor cab.

    TEST AND ADJUSTMENT Adjust the Mowing Height Move the Splendimo to the working position. Lower the Splendimo onto a level floor. Lower the rear parking jack. Lower the headstock until the Splendimo rests on the rear parking jack. Disconnect the tractor top link from the headstock. Extend the rear parking jack to adjust the mowing height.

    Adjust the Ground Pressure Lift the Splendimo to the headland position. Stop the tractor engine. Wait until all moving parts have stopped before you do adjustments to WARNING the Splendimo. On the left and right mowers: Remove the locking pin from the arm and the spring holder. Install the locking pin in the applicable hole in the arm and spring holder.
