    The Lely Shuttle Sampling Device The Lely Shuttle The Lely Shuttle sampling device is a device that automatically takes milk samples during milking with the Lely Astronaut milking robot. The shuttle contains a rack with sampling bottles. The Lely Astronaut Milking Robot control system keeps records on the number of the sampling vessel in the rack and the cow's identity.

    Weight: 22 kg (48 lb). • Compressed Air Supply The Shuttle sampling device must be connected by means of an air hose to a compressed air valve (3/2 • valve) controlled by the automatic milking system. This compressed air valve must deliver a pressure of between 6 to 8 bar (87.02 to 116.03 psi).

    The Shuttle sampling device can be used with sample rack for 40 and 60 sample bottles. The sample rack is suitable for taking samples of 10 ml (0.34 oz), 18 ml (0.61 oz), 30 ml (1.01 oz) and 50 ml (1.69 oz) (intermediate volumes can be set).

    Operating Instructions Directions for Connecting the Shuttle Sampling Device The Shuttle sampling device may be connected to any automatic milking system, provided the system meets a number of preconditions. The following directions include the preconditions for correct sampling using the Shuttle milk sampling device.
  • Page 28: Settings For Sampling With The Astronaut Milking Robot

    Astronaut A3/A4 E-Link Settings On the E-Link select: Tab Settings > Settings > Milk procedure > Milk sampling. The number of sample bottles that can be installed in the Shuttle is model and country- dependant. Select at Rack type (max. nr. of bottles): Button Edit.

    The Fill time sample bottle (Shuttle) should be adjusted so that the spoon does not overflow. The Fill time sample bottle (Shuttle) for a spoon with 10 ml (0.34 oz) is shorter than for a 50 ml (0.34 oz) spoon.

    Set at Fill time sample bottle (Shuttle) the fill time of the sample bottle. Set the value with the keypad or use the button to lower or to raise the value.

    Maintenance Regular maintenance of the Shuttle is essential in order for it be completely safe and reliable in use. If the Shuttle sampling device is used by multiple users, it is strongly recommended to agree with one another as to how and when maintenance will be performed.
