2.2.8 EQUIPMENT CHECKS
When changing electrical components, ensure they are suitable for the purpose and
meet the correct specifications. Always follow the manufacturer's maintenance and
service guidelines. Contact the manufacturer's technical department if in doubt.
The following checks should be conducted for installations using flammable
refrigerants:
– The charge size is appropriate for the room size where the refrigerant-containing
parts are installed.
– The ventilation machinery and outlets are functioning correctly and not blocked.
– If an indirect refrigerating circuit is used, check for the presence of refrigerant in the
secondary circuit.
– Ensure that equipment markings remain visible and legible. Correct any illegible
markings or signs.
– Install refrigeration pipes or components in positions where they are unlikely to be
exposed to substances that could corrode the refrigerant-containing components,
unless the components are made of corrosion-resistant materials or adequately
protected against corrosion.
2.2.9 ELECTRICAL DEVICE CHECKS
Repair and maintenance of electrical components should include initial safety checks
and component inspections. If a fault is detected that compromises safety, do not
connect the electrical supply until the issue is resolved. If immediate correction is not
possible but operation needs to continue, use a suitable temporary solution. Report this
to the equipment owner to keep all parties informed.
Initial safety checks include:
- Discharging capacitors in a safe manner to prevent sparking.
- Ensuring that no live electrical components or wiring are exposed during charging,
recovering or purging the system.
- Checking continuity of earth bonding.
