19 Network Setup

You need wired or wireless internet connec-
tion to use features of Google TV.
• You can establish a wired or wireless
connection between your television and
the local network.
• If you want to use a wired network con-
nection, please start with the instructions
here.
• If you use a wireless network connection,
please follow the instructions in the
"Wireless network connection" section.
Note:
• The following section describes connect-
ing to the home network if you did not
carry this out during the "Initial Set-up".

19.1 Wired Network Connection

Connect the output of modem to the LAN
socket with a Cat 5 cable.
Note:
• Connection cables are not supplied.

19.2 Wired Network Settings

There are two ways of making the wired
network settings.
1. Automatic Connection : all data re-
garding connection settings (IP Ad-
dress, Netmask, Gateway and DNS)
are obtained from modem automatic-
ally.
2. Manual Connection : all data regarding
connection settings (IP Address, Net-
mask, Gateway and DNS) must be con-
figured manually.

19.2.1 Automatic Connection

Most home networks are Dynamic Net-
works. If you have a dynamic network, you
must use a DSL modem that supports
DHCP. Modems and IP sharers supporting
DHCP receive IP Address, Netmask, Gate-
way and DNS values required for internet
access, thus your TV set connects to the
network automatically.
Note:
• If you do not have a dynamic network, fol-
low the instructions in manual connec-
tion section.

19.2.2 Manual Connection

Certain networks require Static IP address.
If your network requires a Static IP address,
you need to enter IP Address, Netmask,
Gateway and DNS values manually. You
can learn the IP Address, Netmask, Gate-
