SATA 3.0 via SlimSAS
One SlimSAS connector, located at JS1, supports eight SATA 3.0 connections (SATA0~7) on
the motherboard. These SATA connections are supported by the Intel C741 chipset. Connect
a proper SlimSAS cable to JS1 to use SATA connections.
SATA 3.0 Connections
Two SATA 3.0 connectors, located at I-SATA8/I-SATA9, support two SATA connections on the
motherboard. Supported by the Intel C741 chipset, these SATA connections are compatible
with SATA HDDs and SATA DOMs that need external power cables. In addition, I-SATA8
and I-SATA9, which are orange SATA connectors with power pins built in, can be used with
Supermicro SuperDOMs and do not require external power cables.
