Chapter 8 PERIODIC INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES

Draining Sea Water

When the ambient temperature drops below 0°C
[32°F], the seawater used to cool the engine can
freeze and cause serious problems such as seawater
pump damage. To prevent such problems, drain the
seawater after engine operation by following the pro-
cedures below.
1. Make sure that the kingston valve is closed.
2. Open the seawater drain cock or remove the plug
to drain seawater.
3. Remove the seawater pump cover, and drain sea-
water from the seawater pump.
