Cautions When Starting

Before starting the engine, make sure no one is near the engine and that no tools are left on or near the engine.
Alert people in the area when starting the engine.
Continuous operation of the starter will drain the battery power or cause the starter to seize. Do not use the starter
for more than 10 seconds at a time. When the engine does not start, turn the key to "OFF" position and wait for
more than 1 minute before cranking again.
Restart the engine after it stops completely.
Check the movement of governor actuator and fuel system if the engine will not start after repeating above steps
three to five times.
DO NOT turn the switch to "START" or "OFF" position during operation.
When the engine is not operated for a long time (one week or more), rotate the crankshaft for 10 seconds with
starter while pulling the manual stop lever to circulate oil in the engine. Repeat this three times with approx. 1 min-
ute intervals between rotations.
If preheating time is longer than that, it could decrease battery capacity faster or shorten the life of air heater.
