Chapter 6 Drive Replacement
• If a drive is replaced while saving a file, the file can be corrupted. Be sure that the saving operation is completed
before replacing the drive.

Example of Drive 1 or 2 Failure (Used for System Volume)

Notes:
• If one of the drives in the system volume fails, repair the system volume first after replacing the drive. Repairing
the volume for the data volume first may not always succeed.
• If you use Disk Management to repair the system volume, the TeraStation will not boot if the drive fails. Follow the
procedure below to take the proper precautions.
• If you changed the display language to one that is not listed below, change it to one of the following languages
before replacing the drive that is used for the system volume: English, French, German, and Japanese.

Power off the TeraStation.

Open the front cover with the included key.

The failed drive's status LED will be glowing red. Push its unlock button and swing the lock mechanism out.
