Using the Opto 22-isolated input connectors

Matrox Breakout Box can route an auxiliary input signal from a third-party device
to your Matrox camera through one of its Opto 22-isolated input connectors. To
use an Opto 22-isolated input connector, perform the following:
1. Connect a G4 Opto 22 input module to a plug-in base.
Note that the G4 Opto 22 input module must be 24 V compliant.
2. Connect the digital I/O and power cable of your Matrox camera and a power
supply to your Matrox Breakout Box module by following the steps in the
Powering and connecting your Matrox camera section, earlier in this chapter.
Note that your Matrox Breakout Box supplies power to the camera through the
digital I/O and power cable. When using the Matrox Breakout Box, you must not
connect the camera's ethernet cable to a power-over-Ethernet (PoE) injector.
3. Connect the third-party device to the Opto 22-isolated input connector associated
with the plug-in base in which you have installed your G4 Opto 22 input module.
The following table describes which Opto 22-isolated input connector is
associated with which plug-in base for G4 Opto 22 input modules.

Note that each Opto 22-isolated input connector relies on having a
G4 Opto 22 input module plugged into the associated plug-in base, to provide
opto-isolation for your Matrox Breakout Box.
Refer to the G4 Opto 22 input module's data sheet for instructions on how to
connect the third-party device to the appropriate Opto 22-isolated input
connector. The positive wire-terminal on the Matrox Breakout Box's input
connector corresponds to pin 1 on the G4 Opto 22 input module. The negative
wire-terminal corresponds to pin 2. These wire terminals are connected to the pins
of the plug-in base internally.
