14 Chapter 2: Connecting Matrox Breakout Box
• Matrox camera connector. The Matrox camera connector is used to connect your
Matrox Breakout Box to your Matrox camera, using the Matrox camera digital
I/O and power cable.
• RS-232 connector. The RS-232 connector can send and receive RS-232 signals
over a serial cable. You can use a terminal emulation program to view your
Matrox camera's operating systems output information.
• Opto 22-isolated output connectors. The Opto 22-isolated output connectors
are used to send opto-isolated auxiliary output signals to third-party I/O devices.
Note that these connectors rely on the G4 Opto 22 I/O modules to provide
opto-isolation for your Matrox Breakout Box.
• Opto 22-isolated input connectors. The Opto 22-isolated input connectors are
used to receive auxiliary input signals from third-party I/O devices. Note that these
connectors rely on the G4 Opto 22 I/O modules to provide opto-isolation for
your Matrox Breakout Box.
• Plug-in bases for G4 Opto 22 I/O modules. The plug-in bases allow you to plug
in G4 Opto 22 I/O modules, or equivalent, which provide opto-isolation for both
the auxiliary input signals from third-party I/O devices, and auxiliary output
signals going to third-party I/O devices. G4 Opto 22 I/O modules provide
circuitry to deal with a wide range of voltages.

Connecting an open-wire to a wire-terminal

Most connectors on your Matrox Breakout Box module have wire-terminals
instead of pins. To connect an open-wire to a wire-terminal, perform the following:
1. Use a slotted screw driver to loosen the screw of the wire-terminal on your Matrox
Breakout Box module. The wire-terminal slot will open as you turn the screw.
2. Insert the wire into the open slot. Hold the wire as you tighten the screw. Turn
the screw until the slot is closed and the wire is secured in place.
