18 Chapter 2: Connecting Matrox Breakout Box

3. If you connected the open-wire cable to the TRIG+ wire-terminal, you should
also connect the GND and the TRIG- wire-terminals of the direct input connector
to each other, and connect the ground of your Matrox Breakout Box to the ground
of the third-party device providing the trigger signal.
This results in your Matrox Breakout Box being partially isolated electrically from
the trigger signal.
To fully isolate the trigger signal from your Matrox Breakout Box, the ground
between your third-party device and your Matrox Breakout Box cannot be shared.
In addition, connect the TRIG- wire-terminal to another ground (floating
ground) that is not electrically connected to the ground of your Matrox
Breakout Box.
