The following is a sampling of the SBus cards available for SPARCclassic and
SPARCstation LX systems. Note that this is not an all-inclusive list.
4 GX Graphics Accelerator Card – This card controls the video output from the system
unit, and accelerates the generation of graphic images. The GX Graphics
Accelerator card occupies one SBus slot on the main logic board. (On the
SPARCclassic X terminal, the card is supported as a factory-installed option but
not as an add-on board.)
4 Color Frame Buffer Card – This card occupies one SBus slot. This card controls the
video output from the system unit to a color monitor.
4 Second Ethernet Card – This card provides you with an extra Ethernet port. The
Ethernet card is used in applications in which your SPARCstation acts as a
gateway between two physically distinct Ethernet networks. This card has two
connectors: standard (thick) Ethernet and twisted-pair Ethernet. It occupies one
SBus slot.
4 Video Frame Capture Card – This card occupies one SBus slot. This card takes video
input and displays it on color or monochrome monitors.
4 SBus Printer Card – This card occupies one SBus slot. This card connects the system
to printing, plotting, and scanning devices.

Nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM)

The NVRAM chip on the main logic board contains the time-of-day clock and the
nonvolatile RAM (see Figure 10–1 and Chapter 10). The nonvolatile RAM stores the
default system configuration parameters. These parameters define how the system is
configured at the lowest level. You can modify these parameters using the Forth
Toolkit. For additional details, see the manual Open Boot Command Reference.

Internal Hard Disk Drive

Diskful systems have one 3.5-inch embedded SCSI hard disk drive installed in the
top half of the system unit. Depending on your system configuration, the drive may
