About this task

• Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-
sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with
an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Procedure
Step 1.
Make preparation for this task.
a.
If the configuration is with only one power supply unit, install the power supply unit in PSU bay
1 (the right bay).
b.
If the configuration is with two power supply units, make sure the power supply units are with
the same brand, power rating, wattage and efficiency level.
c.
If a power supply filler is installed in the bay, pull the filler out of the bay.
Note: During normal operation, each power supply bay must contain either a power supply
unit or a power supply filler for proper cooling.
Step 2.
Make sure the label on the power supply is facing up; then, grasp the handle and slide it into the
power supply bay until it clicks into place.

Step 3.
Connect the power supply unit to a properly grounded electrical socket with a power cord.
Step 4.
Make sure that the AC power LED on the power supply unit is lit, indicating that the power supply
unit is operating correctly.
