• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Procedure
Step 1. Locate the M.2 drive slot to install the M.2 drive.

Note: If the configuration is with only one M.2 drive, install the M.2 drive in M.2 Bay 0 / Slot 1.
Step 2. If necessary, adjust the retainer on the M.2 backplane to accommodate the particular size of the
M.2 drive to be installed. See
Step 3. Install the M.2 drive.
a. Hold the M.2 drive at an angle of approximately 30 degrees, and insert it into the M.2 slot.
b. Lower the M.2 drive down to the M.2 backpalne.
c. Slide the retainer toward the M.2 drive to secure the drive in place.
