Recommended ambient temperature
Specific components require proper ambient temperature to prevent performance degradation. See the following table
for details.
Notes:
• ThinkEdge SE455 V3 supports different acoustic modes, which optimize the operation of system fans for better
acoustic performance.
• The server might operate in one of the following acoustic modes. See the corresponding table for information of
recommended ambient temperature:
Table 1 "Disabled" on page 9
Table 2 "Mode 1" on page 11
Table 3 "Mode 2" on page 11
Disabled
The server operates at default fan
speeds.

Note: The components not listed in this table are recommended to operate with ambient temperature lower than 55°
C.

Mode 1
The server operates with sound
pressure level of 45 dBA at 25°C with
proper configuration.
• 2U heat sink is necessary.
• The optimized acoustic performance requires ambient temperature to be
lower than 25°C.
• Throttling might momentarily occur in this mode.
Note: The components listed as "not recommended" in the following tables
usually generate too much heat for the fans to run at a low enough speed to
keep the noise of the system low. If a not-recommended component is
installed and is only lightly loaded, it may still be possible to run the server in
the acoustic mode and lower the system noise.
Mode 2
The server operates with sound
pressure level of 40 dBA at 25°C with
proper configuration.

50°C
