NEHB Electrode Placement

To acquire a NEHB ECG, use the standard 12–lead electrode placement and items 1, 2
and 3 as shown in the following diagram.

IEC Label Description
C1 red Fourth intercostal space at the right sternal border.
C2 yellow Fourth intercostal space at the left sternal border.
C3 green Midway between location 2 and 4.
C4 brown Mid-clavicular line in the fifth intercostal space.
C5 black Anterior axillary line on the same horizontal level as 4.
C6 violet Mid-axillary line on the same horizontal level as 4 and 5.
L yellow Left deltoid.
F green Above the left ankle (alternate placement— upper leg as close
to the torso as possible).
N black Above the right ankle (alternate placement—upper leg as
close to the torso as possible).
R red Right deltoid.
C4R gray Mid-clavicular line in the fifth right intercostal space.
C3R gray Halfway between 1 and 11.
C7 gray Same horizontal level of 4 in the left posterior axillary line.
