3.6 PCI Expansion Cards

Four standard size PCI expansion (add-on) cards may be installed in the SYS-531R-I.
Installing PCIe Cards
Before installing a PCI expansion card, make sure it is supported by the card slot on the
motherboard.
1. Begin by removing power from the system.
2. Remove the chassis side cover to access the inside of the system.
3. Determine which expansion slot is to be populated and remove the PCI slot protective
bracket by releasing the locking tab.
4. Insert the expansion card into the appropriate PCI slot on the motherboard.
5. Secure the card with the locking tab.
6. Make any power and data cable connections to the card if necessary.
7. Finish by replacing the chassis cover and restoring power to the system.
