defeat the purpose of line filtering. Also, do not run filtered Load conductors from more than one IQ
Gateway Commercial 2 communication domain in the same conduit or cable tray.

2.7.1 400 A filter (SKU: QD-LCF-400-3P)

The filter must be protected by a 400 A or smaller OCPD. When installing a power line filter in an IQ8
Commercial System, the IQ8 Commercial Microinverters and the IQ Gateway Commercial 2 must ALL
be located on the load side of the filter. A 400 A limit of the filter limits the communication domain to
144 kW AC at 208 Y/120 V.

2.7.2 Installation Instructions

The filter can be wall or flat-surface mounted using 6 x M10 or M12 screws.
The 400A LC Filter has open terminal connections, and for safety, the filter must be installed
inside a lockable electrical panel or an enclosed housing, taking proper electrical codes and
clearance spaces into consideration. We recommend using insulation sleeves or heat shrink tubes
to fully cover the open connections or terminals.
For the electrical connections, the terminals have holes to accommodate an M10 bolt. The wires
must be terminated with a #10 lug and fastened to the terminals using an M10 bolt and nut. The
bolt and nut must be tightened to 160 in-lb (18 N m). It must be ensured that there is good contact
(surface) between the lug and the terminals.

2.8 Surge suppression in commercial systems

Surges can occur anywhere on the electrical grid. The guidelines in this section help to minimize any
surge-related issues in your commercial installation. Enphase recommends that you protect your
building or site with surge suppression devices. Enphase microinverters have integral surge protection.
However, if the surge has enough energy, the protection built into the microinverter can be exceeded,
and the equipment may be damaged.
Surge suppression devices protect site loads from electrical surges and can be installed in the main
load center. This provides the greatest level of protection but is often more expensive than a surge
protective device that is placed in parallel to the microinverter panel board and will likely filter the
power line communications in a system.
If using an inline surge protective device, then the IQ Gateway Commercial 2 and microinverters must
be located together on the load side of this device.
A panel-level surge suppressor interrupts the circuit and isolates equipment from the source of the
surge. There is a wide range of devices available from equipment manufacturers with a range of
warranties. Enphase does not warrant or guarantee the performance of any of these products. In
addition to having some level of surge suppression, it is important to have insurance that protects
against electrical surges. Install protective devices per vendor instructions. For more information, see
