QD Cable is available in three connector-spacing options to accommodate portrait and
landscape ballast applications. Raw QD Cable without integrated AC connectors can be used
for runs between separated arrays or to a junction box/field wireable located some distance
away from an array.
You must install supports (such as clips) for the QD Cable and Raw QD Cable at 1.8 m (6 feet)
intervals or less. Installation requirements for wet-rated cable allow QD Cable and Raw QD
Cable to be installed in conduits, cable trays, and other raceways.
Field Wireable QD Connectors are pre-installed at the ends of the QD Cables to increase the
cable length beyond the connector limit mentioned in Table 6. The pre-installed field wireable
connectors at the ends are protected with sealing caps (refer to Figure 6). The sealing caps must
be removed only when you are increasing cable length using the field wireables at the cable end.
WARNING: Do not remove sealing caps from the pre-installed field-wireable connector
at the ends of the QD Cable if they are not used to increase cable length.

2.2.2 Design considerations for QD Cable selection

Each IQ8 Commercial Microinverter supports one compatible PV module. IQ8 Commercial
Microinverter system supports multiple positioning and orientation options for PV modules
through multiple QD Cable SKUs. Cable pitch/SKU selection and microinverter mounting point
need to be decided according to module positioning and orientation on the roof.
All three QD Cable SKUs include center-tapping connectors after every 6 AC male QD
connectors in the QD Cable spool. The center-tap connectors are sealed with a sealing cap,
and the sealing cap should be removed only when the connector is used for feeding the AC
supply to the branch.
The center-tapping connector is a three-phase male field-wireable connector. Use the center-
tap connector only for feeding in the AC Supply connection from the PV subpanel.
