Some DVD-RAM are unforrnatted. You must format these discs be-
fore you can use them in this unit. Formatting also allows you to
erase the entire contents of a disc.
All recordings are irretdevably erased when a disc is format-
ted. Check the disc carefully before formatting to ensure it
doesn't contain any programs you want to keep.
Preparation
eSwitch [DVD, TV} to "DVD".
olnsert the disc you want to format.
While stopped
Press [TOP WINDOW].

Use the joystick [A, y, <1, I_] to
select "DISC SETTING" and press [ENTER].

Use the joystick [A, Y] to select
"Format" and press [ENTER].

Use the joystick [<1, I_] to select
"Yes" and press [ENTER].
5 Use the joystick [<1, I_] to select
"Start" and press [ENTER].
Formatting starts.
The message "Formatting is completed" appears when for-
matting is finished.
• To stop formatting
Press [RETURN] in steps 4 and 5, or select "No" in step 4, "Cancel"
in step 5 and press [ENTER].

(Formatting takes up to 70 minutes. You can cancel formatting if it
takes more than 2 minutes by pressing [RETURN]. The disc must
