Changes to the settings could prevent your system from starting correctly and could result in data loss.

Disable system and software password features

Prerequisites
The software security features of the system include a system password and a setup password. The password jumper enables or
disables password features and clears any existing passwords.
CAUTION:
Only certified service technicians can perform many of the repairs. You should perform only
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online
or telephone service and support team. The warranty does not cover damage due to servicing that Dell has not
authorized. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
Steps
1. Power off the system and all the peripherals that are attached.
2. Disconnect the system power cable from the electrical outlet.
