SAIT Tape Drive Troubleshooting

Each SAIT drive has four LEDs
labeled as follows:
• Tape Motion
• Drive Error
• Media Error
• Cleaning Request
All LEDs flash rapidly and
simultaneously when the drive
malfunctions. LED states and
their meanings are included in
the following table:
Color Status
All lit green for 1/2 second,
then yellow blinks across all,
from left to right, repeatedly
for 2-3 seconds
All lit green when
eject button is pressed
Amber Blinking
Amber Solid
Yellow Blinking
Yellow Solid
Green Blinking
Green Solid
Off
SAIT Drive Cleaning Notification
Occasionally, the drive may alert you that it requires additional cleaning by flashing an
LED as shown in the preceding table, or by notifying the backup software. If cleaning
is required, use only a certified SAIT cleaning cartridge. To order a cleaning cartridge,
visit Spectra Logic's web site or contact your sales representative. Use your backup
software to perform the drive cleaning operation.

Tape Motion
This display of colors and states is normal during power on or
reset.
A repetitive show of this display is normal during diagnostics.
The eject operation is inhibited.
