Touching the automatic button displays the confirmation screen for enabling automatic
switchover. VPC system when operating in automatic mode will have two different
modes of operation:
1. Power combined to the antenna – In this mode should an amplifier fail the failed
amplifier will automatically be switched out of the antenna position effectively
giving a 3 dB loss at the output. If this is not done the power from the online unit
will be spit in the VPC and half of its RF power will be routed to the load
(effectively presenting a 6 dB loss).
2. The VPC system can also be used in a one for one mode in which one amplifier is
routed to the antenna and the other to the load. When in automatic mode if the
amplifier routed to the antenna should fail the VPC will automatically route the
failed amplifier to the load and the working unit to the antenna.
