Amplifier Position Select
In order for the graphical display on the XTRT amplifier to accurately depict the system
configuration the amplifier must "know" its position in the system. Typically Xicom
defines the position of the amplifiers as "A" the top most amplifier, "B" the next
amplifier down and "C" the bottom amplifier in the case of one for two systems.
Dummy plug label "350-0085-019 System Position Select" provides a loopback
connection that allows position indication. Note: In some cases the loopback is built
directly into the interface cables. Placing this loopback on W/G switch 1 connector will
select the amplifier in position "A". The loopback on W/G switch 2 connector will select
the amplifier to position "B" and loopback on both connectors will select the amplifier
to position "C". Note: In some system configurations the lack of loopback on either
connector will indicate "System configuration error or missing cable" problem.
Ethernet Setup Requirements
The XTRT series amplifiers rely on a continuous stable Ethernet connection between the
amplifiers and other components of the system. This connection is the path in which the
Systems Tab on the amplifiers updates status and allows control to the various
components in the system. Systems are typically shipped with an industrial Ethernet
hub and configured with fixed IP addresses to facilitate quick setup. Once configured
the hub may be connected to a customer Ethernet network if the fixed IP addresses do
not clash with existing Ethernet addresses. Typically the amplifiers will ship at addresses
250.10.7.170, 250.10.7.171, 250.10.7.172 which are dedicated addresses within the
Xicom factory. The system addresses may be changed (via the setup menu on the
amplifier) to DHCP and connected directly to the customer network if desired.
The manner in which the amplifier configures its System Display Tab is by using:
1. The position select jumper on the rear panel.
2. The amplifier or other system component serial number selected in the Setup
Menu of the amplifier.
When the amplifier is properly configured on the Ethernet, the position jumper is in the
proper position and the correct serial number is entered in the setup menu for each
amplifier (component), the amplifiers will then continuous "poll" each other and update
status of each other on their own individual System Status Screen.
NOTE: The redundant systems do not rely on this communication for redundant operation.
The Summary Faults are routed between the two amplifiers via the waveguide switch cable
and the redundancy function takes place regardless of the Ethernet interface.
