• Unloader (UA), including inlet valve (IV) and unloading valve (UV).
• Loading solenoid valve (Y1).
• The controller that regulates the compressor based on the pressure settings and readings of
the pressure sensor.
Loading
As long as the working pressure is below the preset maximum value, the solenoid valve is
energized, allowing control air to the unloader:
• The inlet valve is completely open and the compressor will run fully loaded (100% output).
When the compressor reaches the maximum set pressure, the solenoid valve is de-energized
and the inlet valve closes: the machine runs unloaded.
Unloading
The compressor is equipped with the Base controller, an intelligent controller that will stop the
compressor after a variable period of unloaded operation using following rules:
• If the unloading pressure is reached after the first start and if there is no air consumption, the
compressor will run unloaded for 30 seconds and then stop.
• If the compressor is stopped manually, it will stop after 30 seconds of unloaded operation.
• To reduce energy consumption, the compressor stops after a certain time has elapsed. The
length of this time is calculated as follows:
a. The compressor cannot go over the number of hourly activation (factory setting is 10
activations in one hour, which means a cycle of 6 minutes).
b. If the calculated virtual temperature of the motor (which increases with each motor
start) is above the safety limit, the compressor will go in unload mode until the
temperature goes below the safety limit.
c. If there is no pressure demand at the end of the cycle and the pressure is above 2/3 of
the pressure band, the compressor will stop.
d. If there is a pressure demand at the end of the cycle and the pressure is below 2/3 of
the pressure band, the compressor will go into loading mode.
The compressor will automatically restart when the net pressure drops to the minimum limit.
• In order to avoid a pressure drop below the minimum set value in the compressed air
distribution piping, the compressor in stand-by will restart at 0,2 bar (3 psi) over the loading
pressure.
