7.1

Setting up the remote desktop connection to the IPC

The IPC is preconfigured so that you can access the IPC via a local service PC using the Microsoft
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
Notes
• Protect your local service PC against unauthorized access. Under no circumstance weaken
the hardening measures of the connectivity module.
• A connection cannot be established from the service PC to the IPC if several network
connections are active on the service PC. Carefully ensure that only one network connection
is active on the service PC. Deactivate the additional network interfaces or withdraw the
additional LAN cable from the service PC.
• Ensure that the service PC is in the same subnet as the IPC.
• If you or a service provider commission the IPC, carefully ensure that the hardening measures
and security settings are applied in accordance with LDA specifications.

Procedure
1. Connect interface "X3 P1" of the IPC with the local service PC using a LAN cable.
2. Using the terminal diagram, identify where the miniature circuit breaker for the connectivity
module is located. Close the miniature circuit breaker for the connectivity module.
The IPC powers up, starts Windows and the service for RDP. This can take several minutes.
3. When Windows and the service for RDP start, set up a Remote Desktop Connection with RDP
from the local service PC to the IPC.
The LAN interface of the IPC for service access is configured as follows in the factory:
– IP address: 169.254.11.185
– User name: \AgentAdmin
– Password: Password for the Windows user account (see Chapter "Preconditions/initial
