Oil Pressure Switch

The engine oil pressure switch is located on the engine
near the oil filter (Figs.17 and 18). The oil pressure
switch is a normally closed switch that opens with pres-
sure.
On the Groundsmaster 3280−D (diesel engine), the oil
pressure switch should open at approximately 8 PSI
(0.56 kg/cm
2
).
On the Groundsmaster 3320 (gasoline engine), the oil
pressure switch should open between 2.9 to 5.7 PSI (0.2
to 0.4 kg/cm
).
2
IMPORTANT: If the oil pressure indicator light is il-
luminated with the engine running, shut off the en-
gine immediately. Check the indicator light, circuit
wiring, pressure switch and engine lubrication sys-
tem to identify the cause of the illuminated indicator
light.
Testing
NOTE: Refer to engine service manual for information
regarding engine lubrication system and testing.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. The oil
pressure indicator light on the control panel should be
illuminated.
2. If the light is not on, disconnect the wire from the oil
pressure switch and ground the wire to the engine block.
3. If the light comes on, the oil pressure switch is faulty.
4. If the light does not come on after step 2, check the
circuit wiring and indicator light (see Engine Oil Pres-
sure Light in this section).
