    Sewing Preparation 2.1 Before Using the Machine for the First Time BERNINA recommends lubricating the hook before using the machine for the first time or after a longer period of non-use. (see page 168) By oiling the hook, the occurrence of unwanted noises in the hook area can be avoided.
