Installation Work Flow

Use the information in the following table to help you install your access point.

Your Extreme access point ships with everything that you need for a basic installation.
All optional brackets and accessories are sold separately.
Confirm that you have received the following items before you install your device.

Attach the AP to a
wall with AH-ACC-BKT-

ceiling.
Attach the AP to a
junction
Box.
Attach the AP to a
beam.
(Optional)
Connect to a
power
supply.

Lock the access
point.
Complete the
post-
installation tasks
and
confirm registration.

Purpose
Confirm that your AP and accessories arrived
complete and undamaged.
Install the AP on a ceiling or wall, and connect
the network cable. If you use Power over
Ethernet, then the AP powers up.
The AP begins a discovery process to determine
its own IP address and the IP address of
the controller. When the discovery process is
successful, the AP registers with the controller.
Connect to an external 12-volt DC power supply
if you are not using Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Secure the AP and prevent someone from
removing it.
Confirm that the AP registers with the
controller, configure the AP for your network,
and assign it to one or more Virtual Network
Services (VNS).
