Step 6 (conditional): Connect the enclosure power cables
Each enclosure in an S30 Node has two power cables. These cables connect
the power and cooling modules in the enclosure to two different PDUs with
C19 power outlets. Each PDU should have no more than three enclosures
connected to it, so you need two PDUs for every three enclosures. Each set
of three enclosures should be connected to the same two PDUs.
If the S30 Node was returned completely or partially racked, the PDUs are
most likely still installed in the rack (or racks), with the power cables for the
racked enclosures still connected at both ends. The power cables for
unracked enclosures may still be connected at the PDU end.
If the S30 Node was returned partially racked, the power cables for the
unracked enclosures may not reach the racked PDUs. In this case, you need
to either unrack two or more of the PDUs at this point or use PDUs that you
supply. For instructions on unracking the PDUs, see
"Unrack and pack the PDUs"
If the S30 Node was returned unracked with packed PDUs, you need to
either unpack those PDUs or use PDUs that you supply. If the S30 Node was
returned unracked without PDUs, you need to use PDUs that you supply.
To connect the power cables for an enclosure:
1. Connect one power cable to one of the power and cooling modules in the
enclosure.
2. Connect the other end of that power cable to one PDU in a pair of PDUs.
You can use any socket in the PDU.
3. Connect the other power cable to the other power and cooling module in
the enclosure.
4. Connect the other end of that power cable to the other PDU in the same
pair of PDUs. You can use any socket in the PDU.
Step 7 (conditional): Connect the server module power
cables
Each sever module in an S30 Node has two power cables. These cables
connect the power supplies in the server module to two different PDUs with
C19 power outlets. These are two of the PDUs you use for the enclosures.
