Installing Fibre Channel Modules

The ZT 4901 provides two Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) Multi-Source Agreement (MSA)
receptacles for use with copper or fiber optic based Fibre Channel transceiver modules. The
following steps describe the general procedure for installing SFP Fibre Channel transceivers in the
ZT 4901. For information about specific transceivers, refer to the documentation included with the
transceiver.
This product may contain one or more laser devices that are visually accessible depending on the
plug-in modules installed. Products equipped with a laser device must comply with safety
standards including International Electrotechnical Commision* (IEC) 60825.
1. Hot-pluggable SFP transceiver modules can be installed at any time in the ZT 4901.
2. Orient the transceiver's interface with the SFP interface on the ZT 4901. Refer to
page 26 for the location of the ZT 4901's SFP receptacles.
